WBL Programs
Employability Skills & DevelopmentDesigned for student who desire to experience entry level work and understand the culture of the workplace; concentrates heavily on skills and knowledge identified as important to success on the job; and compensation is in compliance with state and federal labor laws.

InternshipsProvides a short term experience (up to one year) to apply what has already been learned in the classroom setting; may be paid or unpaid positions; directly related to a student’s program of study; usually begins after completion of school based learning in the student’s chosen career pathway. These placements are usually for intense observation of how a job is performed in a specific career area.

Co-opsConnects school-based occupational instruction and related paid worksite experiences linked to the career/technology program the student is pursuing. Students are released from school one to three periods to work in a part-time job as a paid employee. Students attend both academic and career technology courses during the school day.

Youth Apprenticeship
Prepares student for high-skill occupation; requires detailed training plan between employer and apprentice to develop workplace competencies. Students must meet stringent criteria, agree to related training beyond high school, and begin on a plan of accumulating 2000 hours of on-the-job training. The work-based portion provides intense training and a paid on-the-job work experience that relate to the student’s career pathway.
